We are finally home 26.5 hours after leaving our hotel in China. Travel was pretty uneventful except for the hour and 15 minutes it took to check-in to our flight in Shanghai. We had a six hour layover, but with a flight delay on our first flight, United not letting us check-in right away, and then the hour and 15 minute check-in debacle, we didn't have a lot of time to wait before boarding the plane.
After that, there was not much left to do for the next 13 hours. Leah slept a lot, Jon squirmed a lot, and I did a little of both. But eventually, even bad things have to end. We got to Chicago and after a little hassle about Leah's positive TB test, we were ready to leave all airports behind us for a while. Leah did great meeting her sisters, grandparents, aunts and cousins at the airport. Thanks everyone for meeting us there for the third time.
Leah started glazing over after a while, so we hopped in our limo for the ride home. Once we toasted Leah's homecoming with some grape juice, she crashed for the rest of the ride. When we got back home Leah perked up enough to see the rest of her home and get her first meal in the US--KFC.
So far, things are going really well with the girls. A little jealousy to be sure, but nothing unexpected. And so starts life as a party of five.
Oh happy day! So glad to finally witness the three girls together.
ReplyDeleteOk...your whirlwind of paperwork and timelines are over. Deep breath inserted here. Now you just have oodles of doctor visits. Its all good, though.
Yay - I've been waiting for this post. Congratulations on making it home - what a long trip. Looks like the meeting of the sisters went pretty well. Rest up and enjoy the simple pleasures again - brushing your teeth with tap water, non-squatty potties, and the joy of having three lovely daughters all together at last. Can't wait to meet everyone.
