Of Bras and Zoos

Leah had a great night sleep Tuesday night, so Wednesday, if possible, she was even more bubbly than before. I think we have a talker here because the whole ride to the zoo, and probably most of the day, she put sound effects to her constant pantomimed stories. I think if she had the English we would have heard non-stop talking.

The zoo was really nice. In the middle of downtown Chongqing, the zoo was a beautiful oasis in the otherwise constant bustle of Chongqing. The highlight was definitely the pandas for all of us. Although Leah was particularly interested in the monkeys and snakes as well. She bounced around from exhibit to exhibit copying all the animals. We have been trying to get some candid shots of her, but like both our other girls, taking a picture means posing in some way, so most of the photos of Leah will be her posing. No worry, she's cute no matter what she does.

After the zoo, we needed to do some shopping for Leah. We specifically needed to get her some bras. We finally found a place around her that sold some younger girl things. Most stuff here in this area is for the young ultra hip crowd. So we went in to this small store that had some underwear and things and tried to find her some bras. Jon stayed outside so she wouldn't be too embarrassed but it didn't help much. Leah is ultra modest and all things underwear or girly related make her very unsettled. By the time we were done with that, she was pantomiming being embarrassed and crying. Poor thing!

Leah continues to amaze us with her constant thoughtfulness. Not just to us, but to everyone she meets. She loves to go up to the food court here and take over the ordering and serving. We only can let her take that so far, though. We want to let her do this because it does seem to really make her happy. On the other hand, we don't want her to see her role in this family as one of servant. That's completely laughable when we think of our other two girls who were never in danger of something like that happening.

She is completely in heaven when it comes to the food court. We don't have the heart to tell her we don't have spicy tripe soup at home!
