Old Town Market

On Thursday we visited an old local market. I say old because the buildings were old and the market has been there for a while, not because of what was sold. Once inside, the streets were lined with little stores that sold all sorts of touristy trinket kinds of things. Not that there were any tourists there. At least we were the only obvious ones.

It's hard to buy anything for Leah. She doesn't really seem to want anything and certainly if it's not something she needs at that exact moment, she doesn't know why we would buy it. For example, we keep trying to get her to buy some snacks for the rest of the trip. Believe it or not, we have a third girl who seems to be really picky with food. Anyway, we try to get her to buy snacks, but if she is not hungry at that moment in time, she won't pick any out. Since she seems to be so picky, we're afraid that when we get to Guangzhou she won't be able to find anything to eat!

So we did manage to get Leah a few things at the shops. It was a nice place to walk around for a while. After the shops, we went to the local Carre Four (like Walmart). We needed to get a carryon for Leah for our trip to Guangzhou. We are leaving the suitcase for Guangzhou because everything is way cheaper there.

Armed with the rest of the things we needed, we had a completely open afternoon. We spent it in the room as Leah is a little cold walking outside for any length of time. Hannah, you will be happy to know that Leah loves all the movies you picked out for her. Especially all the Barbie movies. Dad and I really want to thank you for that because we get to sit through them all again.

Before bed, we were sitting around making fun of each other about who snored the most. I told Leah that I heard her making a lot of noises last night. She told us that she was dreaming that we left China without her and that it was Mom, Dad, Hannah, and Sarah in the US and she was still in China. Then she pantomimed crying. How heartbreaking is that? We made sure she knew that nothing could keep her from coming home to the US and that it would be Mom, Dad, Hannah, Sarah, and LEAH home in the US.

Just a quick explanation of the photo with Leah and I and the hair. The orphanage cut her hair before we came to get her. Apparently she wasn't given a choice and she doesn't like it at all. In the photo she was just borrowing my hair to get by.
